ŠKODA AUTO a.s., Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering is a part of the ŠKODA Academy, which was founded in April 2013 for the purpose of comprehensive education of students and adult employees. The ŠKODA Academy is responsible for the development of ŠKODA AUTO employees, their professional and non-professional competence.
To this end, the employees of the ŠKODA Academy participate in the creation of personnel-development concepts and tools, taking the VW Group Academy strategy into account. Other key activities of the ŠKODA Academy include vocational education of students and talent development. The aim is to combine professional and social competence, transfer of know-how and ensure that students are ready to enter their occupations.
The history of vocational education dates back to 1927. In more than 90 years of its existence, the school has prepared over 23 000 graduates. The school’s headmaster is Ing. Martin Slabihoudek. The vocational school provides its students with the highest level of teaching and uses innovative didactic equipment and aids. As a result, it offers high-quality vocational training that is oriented towards future innovative technologies in mechanical and electrical engineering.
A large part of the preparation takes place at workplaces of ŠKODA AUTO. It is the intensive familiarisation with the reality in production that is one of the most important components of vocational training. Thanks to the progressive and modern ways of teaching, we are able to develop the skills necessary for long-term employability and competitiveness in the labour market.
All successful graduates will be offered a job of an indefinite duration at ŠKODA AUTO.

The Azubi Car is a unique project that has been running every year at the ŠKODA AUTO Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering since 2013. The apprentices have a unique opportunity to design and create their own dream car by presenting one of the cars from the ŠKODA AUTO portfolio. Each project year lasts one school year and is mainly attended by third-year students. The main objectives of the project is to develop the professional and non-professional competence of students, deepen their practical training and support teamwork.
